Day 2 The Rock, Uluru

How to describe today? Une belle aventure, says The French.

It's almost 11pm and we have just arrived home to our cabin after a very special evening - sunset drinks and canapés with glorious view of Uluru, dinner under the stars, an illuminating talk from one of the astrologers in residence, and a stroll through the magical Field of Lights art installation by British artist Bruce Munro. But that was just this evening, and perhaps I will write more on that tomorrow. What came before was equally memorable in an entirely different way.

We spent today at Uluru. First, a two hour guided Mala walk with indigenous ranger Peter, learning not only about the Rock but also about the Anangu people - the two are inextricably linked. Then another few hours walking around the base of The Rock. It was interesting, beautiful, thought provoking and peaceful. What more can you ask for in one day.

Tomorrow, Kata Tjuta.
